For our hall display artwork (which is actually in the corridor on the way to the hall), we learnt about an artist called Henri Matisse. He created pieces of art that, when they are altogether, are known as The Cut-Outs. To do this he used a large pair of scissors, similar to the ones his father used as a tailor, to slice and trim pieces of paper which he then arranged. Some of his artwork was quite small and contained in books, other bits were huge and filled up entire walls! We had a go at mimicking his style and technique with great results.
