Spring Term 2

What a busy and exciting term it has been!

Our Author Study this term has been Michael Rosen, we listened to lots of his poetry and learnt to recite the 'Rhythm of Life' which we performed in assembly. The Great Fire of London, inspired and enthused us all which led to some fantastic creativity especially within our writing. We learnt about the history of fire-fighting and the changes which have been made to the Fire Service because of this historical event.

Spring Term 1

This half term has flown by! Yet again the children have been extremely busy with their learning. They started the term off by researching information about our special author focus 'Julia Donaldson'. We couldn't believe how many books Julia had written and how many we all had between us on our book shelves at home! We've also used Julia's books as inspiration for our 'Outdoor Learning' sessions, see if you can recognise any of her famous characters from our photographs?

We also investigated different types of materials to see which would be the most suitable to keep our teddies waterproof.

During our literacy sessions we've been learning how to follow instructions which led us to making cakes which Historian's believe may have caused 'The Great Fire of London.' This was followed up by us making our own delicious bread and writing instructions.

Autumn Term 2

This term has certainly been extremely busy! The children have thoroughly enjoyed our class theme 'Toy Story', together they've explored toys from the past and present, investigated pushes, pulls and magnetic attractions, followed maps and interpreted these using symbols within our local area, used a compass to find landmarks and created their own moving pictures through story.
