Below is the timetable we will be following in class for you to use as a guide. Remember we have our teams meetings today as well at your chosen time! Please let me know if you have not received your invitation, it should have been e-mailed to your dojo account e-mail address.
9.15-10.30. Literacy. This is a longer session than usual as we are mixing Guided Reading and Literacy together- I gave the children a quick break after they had completed their notes before they started writing. Please watch the input lesson where I explain to the class we are starting a new topic focusing on non-chronological reports. We always start a topic with a cold task, which is a pre assessment independent writing task to see what the children already know and can remember. Please let your child do this independently. We had a brief conversation about the basic parts of a non chronological report and the children in class could not remember much about them- I showed a quick example from a non fiction book!
We then watched the video 3 times to gather facts and information which they wrote on their planning sheet. The first time we watched it all the way through. The second time I paused it at different times for them to fill in different boxes. We then watched it a final time listening out for bits we had missed.
I paused it at 1.10 for notes on What earthworms are and what they look like. 1.54 for notes on how worms move and interesting facts. 2.48 for notes on habitat and how they breathe.
I have uploaded my notes for you to use as a guide if needed and a few examples of the children's work- some decided to try and set it out as a fact page with writing in text boxes, others just wrote it on paragraphs.
Break- we had a longer break than usual and moved around lots after so much writing!
11.15- Maths. Please watch the input lesson, children will need the guided sheet, their maths books and a ruler.
The choose at least one of the worksheets to try and complete, independently if possible. After 45 minutes-1 hour stop, even if the work is not complete. The guided sheet is the priority.
Lunch- Have a long break, at least and hour and try and move around and do some exercise!
Topic- Continue with a task you have already started or choose a new one from the task sheet. The Volcano Topic Work folder on the class home page has some websites that might be useful. The children in class have really enjoyed making different board games about volcanoes and then playing them together!
