Wednesday 27/1/21

9.15- Literacy. Please watch the lesson input. We are continuing to look for evidence of grammatical features in non-chronological reports to help us create a toolkit for our writing. Children need to re-read their report and copy examples of the different features on to the sheet. I have uploaded this as a PDF and uploaded it on to dojo. I briefly recap the different types of conjunctions to help children find evidence but we will be continuing to focus on this in a grammar lesson next week before we start writing our own reports. I asked the children to try and find at least one example for each box. Some struggled to find examples of technical language and generalisers so I have uploaded the help sheet we created in class to show examples. Generalisers are shown in light blue and technical language in purple.

10- Guided Reading. Please read The Evil Emperors text and then answer Day 2 questions in full sentences. This can be typed on to dojo or written in homework books.

Break- stay active using one of the activities from the NetFlex resource on our class webpage. Charlotte and her sister Annabelle have also created an A-Z of exercises which you could use to give you ideas of ways to stay active!

11- Maths. Please watch the lesson input video. You will need the guided sheet to work through while watching. The guided lesson is in 2 parts as we all got a bit confused by one of the questions and had to pause! I didn't explain a few of the questions on the video as everyone in class was getting muddled and so I set it as a challenge- only attempt these at home if your child is feeling confident as I worry it will panic some of the children! I have uploaded the workings for the challenge questions as a third video for those of you brave enough to attempt them! I have also uploaded my shared workings so you can see them clearly. For the worksheets we only managed to complete one sheet in class as the input was longer than usual- children need to remember to convert the times in to the same measurement eg all in to seconds or all in to minutes. Remember to stop maths after 45 minutes - 1 hour even if that means you have only managed to complete the guided work- this is the priority.

11.45- Spellings. I have uploaded activities for each spelling group. Some children have individual spellings which I have uploaded to their portfolios.

Lunch

Well-being Wednesday! I have attached a link to 2 new Yoga sessions- one aimed at children and one aimed at adults (parents please feel free to use this video if you wish!) You will need a password to access this resource which is: WELLBEING401

We are using this resource in school regularly to focus on the wellbeing of the school community; adults and children. It has a mixture of meditation and yoga sessions to help support well-being and mental health during these difficult times.

Times table practice- We enjoyed playing the Grand Prix Multiplication game in class which is on the Arcademics website (the second link in the Times Table Games folder.)

Topic- Choose another activity from the Volcanoes task sheet. This will be our last week on this so try and finish any unfinished projects.
