BLENDED LEARNING

In order to ensure that learning is continued, irrespective of lockdown and self-isolation, Catcott Primary School has developed the following plan. This plan offers remote learning opportunities whilst also acknowledging that some households have limited access to devices and would require hard-copies of work and resources. An overarching principle of the plan is that the class teacher retains responsibility for their classes insofar as this is practicable.

Stage 1

This is when your child may have to be away from school related to Covid or awaiting results.

Go to Catcott Primary School’s Class pages to  access links for your child to complete at home for a few days  https://www.catcottprimary.co.uk/class-pages/

If your child is ill there is no expectation that they will need to complete the work set.

Stage 2

This is when your child has to isolate for two weeks due to advice given by Public Health England.

Your child’s class teacher will communicate your child’s learning through Tapestry (if in Rec/Yr1 class) or Dojo if in Years 1/2 – Year 6.

Stage 3

This will be if your child’s bubble has to close for two weeks or that there has been a school closure due to a national or regional lockdown.

Your child’s class teacher will communicate lessons through Tapestry or Dojo.

Lessons will be based on the content that they would be taught if in school.

There will be a mixture of Maths, English, Guided Reading & a Topic piece of work daily for KS1 and KS2. Feedback will be given through Tapestry/DoJo. Work can be uploaded from home and teachers will provide feedback as soon as possible during the school day. The expectation will be that your child will complete all work set on a day to day basis and upload this work to their Portfolio on Class Dojo.

Parents in Rec/Yr1 class can take photographs of your child’s work and upload this on Tapestry so the class teacher can comment and provide feedback.

A member of staff will communicate with you and your child during this period of isolation to check on their wellbeing and how ‘blended learning’ is progressing.

IF A TEACHER is tested positiveThen the expectation is that work will be uploaded to the class website from Oak National Academy and White Rose. The Headteacher will check on the children in the relevant class. The teacher will NOT be expected to work or provide feedback if they are ill.

Many parents are having to work from home. If isolation is required, they will have to balance having children at home plus continuing to work which may become increasingly stressful.  We are suggesting that you create a timetable that suits you as a family. Ideally, if your child is in Year 2 upwards they should be able to carry out tasks independently once explained to them.

Not all children will have access to technology to complete their learning, if you require paper copies of the learning then we are more than happy to print these off in school for you. These can be collected from the school by contacting the school office. Work can be completed in your child’s homework book.
