Today I would like to spend some time looking at the photographs and reading about them from one of these websites (or more if you like!).
All of these photographs are what we call primary sources. A source refers to something we can get information from, in this case they are all historical sources. Primary means that they are taken from the time period we want to find out about. These photographs were taken during World War 2, not after. They are not illustrations or artists' interpretations.
The information you are reading would be classed as a secondary source because it is written by someone who is summarising events around that photograph.
When looking at the photographs, do you read the information that comes with it. However, also consider the purpose of that photograph. Why did the photographer take it? What is the photograph showing? Why is it important? How does it make you feel?
