Christmas is a magical time of year for children and we celebrate it in style here at Catcott Primary School!
Each year we have not one but TWO Christmas productions! Year 3, 4 and 5 put on a pantomime for us (this year it was Aladdin) at Edington Village Hall. Meanwhile KS1 and Reception put on a nativity play (usually with some sort of twist).
Year 6 always perform an end of year production on their own in July, so they do not participate in the pantomime, but instead undertake a series carol concerts around the county. This year they performed for the residents of Wellfield House and then again at Cossington Village Hall for the Friends and Neighbours. Their crowning glory though is always their performance at Wells Cathedral alongside children from other primary schools. They spend the day rehearsing altogether, the songs that they have learned at school, and then in the evening they put on a tremendous show to a Cathedral full of their families. This year was no exception and the children did us all very proud!
The KS1 and Reception performance of 'Midwife Crisis' went down a storm too, with great performances by all the children. They learned their lines, moves and dance routines with skill and they performed to a packed school hall twice during the week.
Year 3, 4 and 5 pulled out all the stops on their 2 evening performances of Aladdin. The children had once again learned complicated lines, moves and dance routines and then performed them brilliantly at the Village Hall.
Well done to all the children and to the staff for getting them through these wonderful Christmas performances over the festive period.
