On Monday 11th November the children from Catcott Primary School assembled at the war memorial in Catcott village. Children from Year 6 read some poems. Once these poems had been shared, the children all joined in a two-minute silence.
‘I was extremely proud of all the children, and especially Year 6,’ said Mr. Axten-Higgs, the Headteacher of Catcott Primary School. “It is important that we encourage our young children to engage with Remembrance, so that they can begin to learn the importance of understanding the lessons of the past.’
In addition to the act of remembrance itself, the children have been collecting money for the Royal British Legion’s National Poppy Appeal. They raised an impressive £342.39.
