Sporting Achievements

At Catcott we recognise the role that PE has to play in promoting a long term healthy lifestyle which is both enjoyable and fulfilling. We aim to provide a high-quality physical education curriculum that inspires all of our pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. Through our physical education culture we will enhance academic achievement, as well as the health and well-being of our pupils.

Primary Quadkids- Crispin School played host to the first Mendip Quadkids competition of the year on 23/5/19. 80 children, across 10 teams competed in the 4 disciplines of sprint/ run/ jump/ throw - with all of these events superbly run and officiated by young leaders from Crispin School. Well done to the 16 children who competed from Years 4,5 and 6

We had fantastic weather for our final Cross Country Event this year. Well done to everyone who has participated this year and a special well done to Joseph, Santino and Freddie who qualified to represent Mendip in the inter area competition!

More inter-house tournament fun!

Wells Cathedral School hosted a year 3/4 tag rugby festival on 19/3/19. Over 60 children enjoyed a mini coaching session followed by a total of 15 games of tag rugby. The whole event was supported by Wells Cathedral leaders. Each child went away with a certificate highlighting the importance of being active for 60 minutes per day - along with a drink and a cookie!

The first of 2 Primary High 5 tournaments was hosted at Strode College on 28th February 19.

7 teams from; Elmhurst, Hugh Sexey, Catcott, Ashcott and Baltonsborough participated in games split into 5 minute quarters.

After coping with ever changing weather conditions - Elmhurst, Hugh Sexey and Ashcott secured their place in the School Games finals to be held at Millfield in April.

Well done to all participants and good luck to the finalists!

Wells Cathedral School hosted the Mendip area primary hockey tournament on 8/2/19.

With 6 schools competing; Catcott, Kilmersdon, Elmhurst, Springmead, Fairlands and Oakfield - we had 60 children playing in a league style competition.

The games were ably officiated by Wells Cathedral leaders.

With the overall winners being Springmead.

On Thursday 25th October, Wells Cathedral School hosted the Mendip area primary schools sports-hall athletics qualifier. 48 schools; Oakfield, Selwood, Shapwick, Walton, Catcott, Baltonsborough, West Pennard, Oakfield and Horrington entered 17 teams across years 5 and 6, girls and boys - making for a competitive afternoon. Following an hours coaching, which was facilitated by WCS staff and young leaders, the competitive event got underway. Congratulations to the winners; Selwood in the large schools and Catcott in the small schools events.

The Mendip round of the u12 futsal competition was hosted by Strode College on 12/2/19. With 3 schools competing; Catcott, Elmhurst and Oakfield in what was to be a very closely contested competition. Oakfield ran out the winners and will now go forward to the county finals.

Well done to the sports captains who organised their first interhouse tournament today, which was bench ball. We had 3 tournaments throughout the day for each year group. Well done to yellow house who were the overall winners!

First football league game against Walton, with Catcott winning 4-1. Fantastic team effort, it was a really enjoyable match to watch. ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

We had great fun taking part in a dance-a-thon to raise money for the NSPCC! We raised over £800!

Our Cross Country Club braved the freezing conditions to take part in this months cross country event! Well done everyone who took part!

A very enjoyable school visit to watch Bristol City vs Fulham! We even got to go on the pitch to be flag bearers before the game!

KS2 indoor athletics inter house tournament.

KS1 inter house tournament. The sports leaders led an indoor athletics competition, measuring and recording scores for javelin, vertical jump, speed bounce and long jump.

Well done to the Catcott netball team who played their first match tonight against Elmhurst!

Well done to our Catcott Football team who reached the Somerset finals! The team played brilliantly but unfortunately got knocked out in the semi finals! 

Another win for Catcott football team tonight against Elmhurst School. Final score was 8-5!

A fantastic game of football was played last night between Catcott and Ashcott. Both teams showed great skills and perseverance. Final score was 6-4 to Ashcott.

Another amazing performance from the Catcott football team! Today they played against St Bens and won 9-6!

Year 1 and 2 played a game of football using balls made by the children in our link school in Kenya. We all had great fun although found kicking the ball much harder!
Children from years 4,5 and 6 took part in an indoor athletics tournament yesterday. They all performed brilliantly and should be proud of their achievements!
