Online Safety

At Catcott School, we are committed to helping children stay safe, responsible, and confident when using technology. We teach our Online Safety curriculum through the Somerset eLIM Active BYTES scheme of work.

Children take part in half-termly Online Safety lessons and termly assemblies. The scheme covers all Online Safety expectations within the Computing National Curriculum and is fully mapped to the 2025 RSHE Curriculum.

Our Online Safety Themes:

Autumn Term – I am Kind and Responsible

Children learn how to behave respectfully online, communicate positively with others, and understand their digital responsibilities.

Spring Term – I am Safe and Secure

Children explore how to keep themselves safe online, protect personal information, and recognise situations that may make them feel uncomfortable or worried.

Summer Term – I am Healthy

Children learn about maintaining a healthy balance between online and offline activities and how technology can affect their wellbeing.

Staying Safe Online

If you are online and see something that makes you feel worried, uncomfortable, or upset, the most important thing to do is talk to a trusted adult. This could be a parent, carer, teacher, or another adult who can help.

Reporting Concerns

Children, parents, and carers can also report serious online concerns to CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Command), which helps keep children safe from online abuse.
