Rebecca Randall - Chair

I have been a Governor at Catcott since 2022 and recently took up the role of Chair in 2026. I live in the village with my family which includes children in the school and my red setter Rolo who you will often see at the school gates. I am passionate about the future of our school, our staff, pupils and families and am keen to work with everyone to keep our small school thriving.

Vicky Pestel - Vice Chair

 I have always had strong links to the school and local area having attended Catcott School in Year 5 and 6 and lived in Moorlynch for the first 16 years of my life. I moved back to Somerset in 2015 and more recently to Chilton Polden in 2021. My background is in NHS Management in operational, project management and contracting roles. I have two children who attend the school.

I became a Governor in 2024 as I feel passionate about the important role the school plays for children that attend and their families as well as the wider community. I am a co-opted Governor and lead for Mental Health and Wellbeing. I became Vice Chair of the Governing Body in 2026.

Frances Barr

 

I have been a Governor at Catcott School since 2018, and was first co-Chair and then Chair of Governors from January 2024 until July 2026.

I have lived in Burtle with my family since 1995. I’m a veterinary surgeon, and worked for many years as a clinician and teacher at the University of Bristol. I then moved on to work in postgraduate veterinary education. I am now retired.

I’ve been involved with Shapwick and Polden cricket club for many years, and my husband and adult son still play for the club. I’m also an active local volunteer for Somerset Wildlife Trust.

Catcott School is a very important part of the local community, and I’m committed to working with the staff, parents and children to allow the school to flourish.

Lisa Carter

I moved to Edington in 2015 and having recently returned to the area I wanted to get involved in our local community ideally using my skill set as a qualified accountant. After discussions with the Chair of Governors at Catcott and with encouragement from my employer and professional body I joined the Governing Board in 2016. Since then I have  primarily focused on the financial review and facilities management of the school. Although I am most comfortable talking about budgets and financials I really enjoy supporting the school to make sure the pupils get the best all round experience possible. My children attend the school.

Matt Carter

Matt has worked in schools for over thirty years. He has led an academic department and been a senior leader. His passion for teaching and learning extends beyond the classroom to sporting, cultural and adventurous activities. He currently works with schools from around the world providing consultancy and training for an educational IT provider. Matt lives locally and his children were pupils at Catcott.

Sarah Seago

I have lived in Burtle since 2020, although Somerset has always been home to me as I was born and raised here. Before retiring, I was Deputy Headteacher of a local Infant and Nursery School, and I am pleased to have continued my involvement with the school as a Governor. I joined Catcott as a co-opted Governor in January 2026 and have enjoyed becoming part of the school community. With my experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead, I am committed to supporting the school in keeping children safe and feel well suited to my role as Safeguarding Governor.

Paul Moate

I am a local farmer's son growing up in the local area, attending Bawdrip and Chedzoy schools, and then later Brymore School where I am also a governor of the trust. My sons both attended Catcott School but have now moved on to secondary school. My background is property development and events. As a co-opted Governor my role is to lead on Health & Safety and on OPAL provision at the school.
